3rd Millennium courses provide a strong abstinence message written in a non-confrontational, motivational interviewing style.
We incorporate images, animation, and sound effects to engage the student in the learning process. Young professional narrators discuss specific lesson topics or the student can turn the sound off and read from the “knowledge page.” Challenging interactions and quizzes must be completed to advance through the course.
At the beginning of the course, the student must first complete a confidential self-assessment developed by the eCHECK UP TO GO team at San Diego State University Research Foundation. This intervention looks at personal and family risk factors as well as current drinking or marijuana use. The student is the only person with access to this confidential report. Many high school and middle school students do not drink or use marijuana and can select non-drinker or non-user in this section of the self assessment. The student receives personalized feedback through the course based on their responses in the eCHECK UP TO GO. Research shows that personalized feedback is an important factor that impacts behavior.
At the conclusion of the course the student must complete a post test. The administrator and student automatically receive an email notification of completion. The administrator can also monitor student progress, create reports, and send email reminders to students in our Student Management System (SMS).
